GCS Points Chase
Hollis Fast 5K is the newest member race to the Gate City Striders Points Chase! This points chase is free to participate in - all you need to do is sign up!

Every mile that you race and complete at a Gate City event (eligible races listed below) will count towards your final score. For example, if you run a single Freeze Your Buns (5K) race, you will receive 3.1 points!

Virtual results are accepted, provided that the race in-question has a virtual option and your virtual result aligns to the standards of that specific race.

The winner at the end of the final event will be the one with the most mileage (points).

There will be awards for first place in the Junior Striders division and for top three in the Open division.

Additionally, anyone who achieves a minimum threshold of 40 miles will also receive a prize!

In the event of a tie, the first tiebreak will be number of distinct races participated in followed by the number of distinct series participated in. After that, all ties will be honored.
Team Competition
Due to its continuing popularity, we are pleased to announce that we will bring back the team competition for 2025! Many runners run in social groups, while others run for a competitive corporate team or running club. We are encouraging all runners to join us under a
group or team name. Team uniforms and costumes are not required, but always enjoyed.
We are offering a prize of $150.00 to the team with the most participants! The second and third largest teams will also be awarded with prizes of $100.00 and $50.00 respectively.
This is not a timed-competition, so all teams have a chance to win. All you have to do is form a team and invite your friends and family! All teams must be declared in the registration state prior to race day.
Note: As a host of the race, the Gate City Striders as a club/team is not eligible to win the prize. However, members of GCS who form their own team are eligible!
You can sign up while registering. If you previously registered without declaring a team affiliation, you can be added to a team by logging into your account on runsignup.com and following the bullets below:​​

Click the "profile" icon (little gray character) and see your name.

Click the rectangular "Upcoming Events" button and select "Hollis Fast 5K".

Look to the right side of the page and see the blue colored "Manage Registration" and click on it.

Next, click on the "Group/Team" header at the top of the page.

Click on the rectangular button titled "Current Group/Team". A dropdown menu will list the teams who have already registered.

Click on your team. You are now officially a member of a team!

If your team is not listed, click on the "Create New Group/Team" rectangular button and type in a team name. (Congratulations! You are now a team captain!)
